A lot can happen in a year. A year ago, I was in high school stressing over my academics, college admission test results, and graduation; stressing over the opinions of other people about my life and the universe giving me a hard time. I can't believe that I was able to survive everything HAHAHA. So here's a little something to always remind myself (and probably some other stressed high school senior) that everything will be okay.
Dear senior self,
Keep calm. There are days where you will feel like crap, take a break. Always remember to prioritize your health over everything, you wouldn't want to spend another day in your doctor's clinic, being told that you shouldn't stress yourself out because it makes you
Don't be afraid to speak up. Come out of your little shell; people can be judgemental and all, screw them. Don't be afraid to voice out your opinion; just because it's the opinion of the majority doesn't mean it also has to be yours too. Someone out there has the same opinion; she's probably just as scared as you.
Don't allow people to treat you like shit. If someone makes you feel bad about yourself, leave them. Guuuurl, you don't need that kind of negativity in your life; don't let it get to you, you'll end up overthinking and stressing over yourself. Focus on being a better version of yourself; don't let the haters stop you from doing your thang! *mean girls reference hehe*
People will let you down; no matter what you do and how long you hold on, they'll eventually disappoint you. As soon as you see the signs, please do yourself a favor and let go. Don't waste your time chasing after someone who is no longer interested in keeping contact with you. Don't blame yourself, people come and go. As you grow older, people tend to drift apart.
To the people who chose to stay, keep them close. In college, you need people who will keep you sane. It's hard to deal with stress and people who push you to your limits. There are days where you'll need some comfort and reassurance; these people will be there help you get back on track.
Eventually, you'll learn to stop caring about what other people think about your life. There are people who will tell you that they're just concerned, but once you turn your back they spread nasty stuff about you. You'll be able to prove to them that you can handle whatever life throws at you. Calm down, don't stress over them and enjoy your life. IT'S YOUR LIFE, ENJOY IT. As long as you can deal with the outcome or consequence, you're good.
Follow your gut, cause usually it's right. If you've always doubted yourself, now is the time to start trusting yourself. If you're not sure, chill and be careful. Eventually, things will start to become clearer.
When the universe gives you an opportunity to explore and expose yourself to the world, GRAB IT. Don't ever doubt yourself, don't overthink, don't be pessimistic. You are a talented lady, don't let anyone step on you and tell you that you are not.
Always give yourself time to relax and unwind. Disconnect from the world; read a book, paint, write, or shop. You deserve a break once in awhile; in a world where things tend to be a little too much, you need to give yourself time to breathe to remain sane. Spoil yourself as much as you can once you overcome a difficult obstacle. Buy the top you wanted or the book you've always wanted to read. You deserve it for surviving and staying sane.
Lastly, always remain positive and be thankful. The universe will not always be on your side, make the most out of every situation. You will be having bad days, those are inevitable anyway; when the universe isn't on your side, do a nice deed and brighten up someone's day.
All the love,
